YULIA SHLOMENZON

Jerusalem, Israel's capital, consists of different layers of its inhabitants.

In this residential project I referred to the concept of modesty, which  is characteristic of the majority of the city's religions. With this inspiration the building was designed as an artichoke, with its layers metaphorizing the different dimensions of the city.

The building is the gate to the neighborhood in particular and to the city in general.

The structure is being gradually revealed by the visitor/ the tenants. Starting from the street view into the most intimate place- THE MIKVE - the "Heart" of the project.

The building' shell on its south side is a reference to the city's wall, in which the holes in it create filtered light that enters the library, located on the ground floor.
